Detroit school inspection reports released

Duggan_schools

Mayor Mike Duggan toured a number of different schools in the district earlier this month, finding multiple problems in 11 buildings. The city now has released their report of what they saw. Broken boilers and radiators, blown out windows, leaky roofs and moldy ceiling tiles are just some of blemishes highlighted in the reports. Officials say rodents and insects also need to be removed in some schools by a licensed contractor and have it approved by the city’s Buildings, Safety Engineering & Environmental Department. The district is required to fix some urgent issues immediately and some lesser violations within 30 days. Duggan says the city will be forced to take legal action if the district doesn’t follow the guidelines, highlighted in the report.
