Apple to design new wireless charging technology

Bloomberg’s Tim Cuplan reports Apple is developing a new wireless charging technology that may become part of its mobile devices by the start of 2017. Some analysts see Apple as ‘late’ to the game as competitors have already had the feature, but Apple is exploring new technologies that would allow devices to be powered from further away than the charging mats used with current smartphones. Wireless recharging at a distance of about a meter through magnetic resonance was something Apple was exploring back in 2010. Another explored method uses radio waves to recharge wirelessly.
