Duggan to announce homeowner tax decrease

Taxes cut

If you are a Detroit homeowner, your property taxes are probably going down. Detroit Mayor Duggan will announce property assessment changes on Monday that will result in homeowner tax reductions. Tax reductions were made for Detroit homeowners in 2015, reducing taxes from 5% to 20% for some homeowners. The re-appraisals were a result of real estate impacts following the recession and foreclosure crisis. Homeowners on the northeast and those close to the west side are expected to receive the largest tax reductions for 2016.
