Woman had abscess in abdomen filled with maggots, husband charged with involuntary manslaughter due to gross neglect

Monroe CO. man 2

A Monroe County man has been arrested for involuntary manslaughter in the death of his wife. Her death was ruled as a homicide due to “gross neglect”. The Michigan State Police say she died because her husband, who was supposed to be taking care of her, was not providing her the proper care. The case came to the attention of authorities last June when Robert G. Shelton brought the woman to the hospital. She was unconscious. It was discovered the woman had severe skin damage and a large abscess in her abdomen that was filled with maggots. The woman died of complications from the abscess.
