ISIS supporter who attempted attack on Detroit church is scheduled in Federal Court

Khalil Abu-Rayyan from jihadwatch.org

A detention hearing is rescheduled for Tuesday in Detroit Federal Court for a Dearborn Heights man accused of planning a Jihad attack at an area church. Twenty-one-year old Khalil Abu-Rayyan has not been charged with any terror-related crimes at this time, but authorities say he was a supporter of Islamic State extremists. Abu-Rayyan has been under FBI investigation since last May. Agents say he was making violent threats against police officers, churchgoers, and others. Court records quote him as saying he bought a bunch of bullets for an attack on the unnamed church, but that the plan was quashed when his father searched his car and found his gun, the bullets, and even the mask he planned to wear. Abu-Rayyan’s father is now seeking custody of him and says he will notify authorities if his son attempts to flee.
