Fiat Chrysler’s announcement that it would not reveal any new vehicles at the North American International Auto Show was seen as a slap in the face of the Detroit auto show. But auto show officials point out that the coming show will be one of the most significant of recent years, with many reveals of new vehicles by the other automakers. Fiat Chrysler says it will unveil a new product at the Consumer Electronics Show in early January, only a few days before the media previews of the Detroit show. The Las Vegas electronics show has become important to the auto companies because of all the technology now found in vehicles. The electronics show is only for industry, and is closed to the public, as opposed to the auto show. Which means the Las Vegas event is made for the media.
FCA will still have one of the largest display areas for the Detroit show, and is creating a brand new stand-alone exhibit for Alfa-Romeo.
