West Bloomfield Woman Killed In Carjacking: Cops

West Bloomfield Police think the murder of a township woman whose body was found in burned out car was the result of a carjacking attempt.
Police arrested 18 year old Desean Smith for the killing of 31 year old Diana Pesserl.
Officials believe Pesserl was sitting in her car listening to music when Smith left his friend’s house nearby, and saw the car. That’s when police say the crime occurred.
Police say Smith returned later. Police say a friend of Smith told them Smith said he showed his friend “the butt of a gun in his waistband,” police say. They say Smith told the friend ‘(Pesserl) tried to grab my pistol so I had to shoot her.’
Smith was arrested later at a boat launch on Orchard Lake.
Smith told the judge he was innocent.
He is jailed without bond.
Pesserl was found in a burning car behind the vacant Pine Lake Elementary School. The coroner concluded she was shot to death.
