Bedrock Realty and Shinola will get together and do a groundbreaking for a new downtown Detroit hotel. The luxury Shinola boutique hotel will have 130 rooms and will open in the fall of 2018. It’ll be on the 14-hundred block of Woodward one block away from the old J-L Hudson’s site. The Dan Gilbert company plans a new building on the site, which, according to public records, will have residential, commercial-retail, and civic space. The boutique hotel may also have retail space, and will have a ground floor restaurant. Some old buildings next to the hotel site will be rehabbed and will be connected to the hotel.
