Macomb County Digs Deep To Fix Sewer

Macomb County commissioners will decide on a $20-million dollar loan to pay for work on the sewer collapse in Fraser. They meet tomorrow. The county public works department says it has $15-million in expenses so far on a temporary bypass and for the Macomb Interceptor, which broke in late December, causing a huge sinkhole.
The break has threatened to force the release of raw sewage into the Clinton River. 3 homes in Fraser had to be condemned. 19 other homes were damaged.
The temporary bypass line is expected to be completed by early March. Work on the permanent sewer line will take most of the year. It could cost about $150-million.
