Crews Restoring Power After Windstorm

DTE crews are at work hooking up electricity after gusty winds overnight.

Dte says “4,000 DTE Energy customers are without power after a wind storm with gusts up to 45 mph blew across Southeast Michigan, impacting 25,000 customers. Outages are scattered but the hardest-hit areas are Oakland, Wayne and St Clair counties.

Crews are working 16-hour shifts around the clock to restore service, and the vast majority of customers are expected to be restored today.”

DTE has this advice and warning.

Safety is always a priority. Customers should stay at least 20 feet away from all power lines and anything they’re in contact with, and consider them live. They are extremely dangerous.  Treat every downed power line as if it were energized. Customers should also heed the warning of yellow caution tape, which indicates there is a downed power line in the area. DO NOT CROSS YELLOW CAUTION TAPE.

There are three convenient ways customers can contact DTE during an outage. Customers can report an outage, check on the status of an outage and view an outage map from their smart phones using the DTE Energy Mobile app. The app is available free of charge from the Apple Store or Google Play. Customers also may call DTE Energy at (800) 477-4747 to report power outages or downed lines. DTE encourages customers to use the website at dteenergy.com as well.
