White Boy Rick Closer To Release

The convicted Detroit drug dealer known as ‘White Boy Rick’ could be close to being freed from prison.

Rick Wershe has been in prison for nearly 29 years.

He was 17 when he was convicted of distributing drugs and sentenced to life behind bars without parole.

His sentence was later amended to life with the possibility of parole.

His longtime attorney Ralph Musilli argues that Wershe has been in prison on a ‘lifer’criminal drug law that was abolished by a U-S Supreme Court ruling in 2010.

He adds that federal agents had used Wershe as a drug informant when he was only 14 years of age

Wershe is scheduled to meet with a member of the Michigan parole board today through a video hookup from the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee.

Musili is hopeful a public hearing on the case will be scheduled and that Wershe could be given a possible parole as early as June.
