You Can Say Goodbye to “Mr. I”

You can pay your respects to Mike Ilitch in a number of ways.
The family also said it would host a public memorial display starting today at Comerica Park.

People are invited to share memories and write messages of condolence on a temporary, public memorial site.
Public Visitation at Fox Theatre Grand Lobby will be held Wednesday 12 to 8 p.m.
The family says the remains of Mr. Ilitch will lie in repose at the Fox. Anyone can come by and pay their respects.
The family said they are planning other memorial events at Joe Louis Arena, the Lakeland Complex and the Little Caesars construction site.

Mr. Ilitch died Friday after a long illness. He was 87.

The family issued a statement Sunday:

“To everyone who has so graciously remembered Mike Ilitch, we extend a heartfelt thank you. The volume of condolences and kind wishes overwhelms us, and we appreciate it more than words can express. We know that he would’ve been touched by the outpouring of support, especially from this community that he so loved. We will miss him tremendously, and we are grateful, humbled and comforted to know that his lifetime was filled with well-lived moments.”

A small, private service will also be held for close friends and family members.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to any of the follwing:
