Ex Rep Avoids More Jail

Former State Rep. Brian Banks will not face any more jail time for misdemeanor charges of filing a false bank statement.
Banks entered a plea agreement with the Michigan Attorney General’s office for lying in bank loan documents. Felony charges were dropped when Banks agreed to resign from the Michigan House.
He was sentenced to one day in jail, which he already did.
A special election to fill his seat will be on primary day August 8th.
Banks is a Democrat from Harper Woods.
Banks has previous felony convictions. Banks has scheduled a political fundraiser for next month.
