Can Mayor Put Detroit To Work?

A new jobs program, Detroit at Work, launches today. It aims to link residents with open jobs through training programs that will lead to those jobs.

Duggan said the city’s unemployment rate as of last month was 9.8%.

Duggan says the city is partnering with unions to get more Detroiters working on new construction projects.

He said the city will continue its blight demolition program.

Duggan said the city will tear down 10,000 vacant buildings in the next two years.

Duggan also renewed his push for reforms in car insurance. He says Detroit residents are forced to pay premiums that are too high. He says new efforts will focus on statewide car insurance reform.
