A group opposed to state plans to close as many as 38 of the state’s under-performing schools is heading to Lansing today.
The schools were earmarked by the state’s school reform office.
Some two dozen are located in Detroit.
The office says a final decision on the closings will be announced within the next few weeks.
The community group known as 482-Forward
is in Lansing today for what they are calling a lobby day.
Members want to talk with lawmakers.
They are also planning a march and rally for March 4th.
The Detroit Public Schools Community District’s board of education voted previously to give the district the authority to move ahead with a lawsuit against the reform.
