Tax Cut Bill Goes Down In Lansing

State tax cuts have been defeated .
Lawmakers in Lansing worked until the early morning hours to vote on a bill that would cut Michigan’s income tax rate.
12 Republicans joined all but one Democrat in the House in voting against the cut, defeating it 55-52. Legislative leadership added a provision that if the state’s rainy day fund falls below $1 billion, the income tax cut would be stopped. But that failed to get a majority.

The Republican backed bill would lower the income tax from 4.25% to 3.9% over 4 years.

Governor Snyder said he would veto it if passed.
