32 year old Ikeie Smith of Redford Township is scheduled to go on trial today in connection with nine home invasions and rapes in western Wayne County.
Police says he is also suspected of home invasions and rapes in 35 Metro Detroit communities going back five years.
Smith was offered a chance to plead guilty to a charge of first degree criminal sexual conduct in exchange for many of the other charges to be dropped.
He turned the offer down.
