Ex Trooper Goes To Jail

A former Michigan state police trooper is on his way to jail for embezzling thousands of dollars in vehicle fees that should have gone to the state.

31 year old Seth Swanson of Royal Oak is sentenced to one year in jail, admitting that he took more than $170,000 in salvage vehicle inspection fees.
Swanson was caught falsifying Secretary of State forms giving clean title to vehicle owners following salvage inspections that he conducted, in which he collected 100-dollar fees in cash. Swanson kept the money.

The state is attempting to track down the salvaged vehicles.

Swanson said he took full responsibility, during sentencing by Oakland County Judge Wendy Potts.

Swanson was also ordered to pay $170,100 in restitution and placed on 5 years probation.
