Fire officials say heavy winds played a role in exacerbating a massive fire at a two story apartment complex on Whittier on the city’s east side this afternoon. Four people are confirmed dead, five injured. Detroit fire Commissioner David Forell says people were jumping out of the second story windows when crews arrived. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
