VW Boss: ‘We Could Talk With FCA’

Could there be a merger brewing in the auto industry?
Volkswagen opened the door to a possible merger with Fiat Chrysler .

Volkswagen CEO Matthias Mueller told reporters in Germany that he would not rule out talks with Fiat Chrysler, whose top executive, Sergio Marchionne, has been shopping around for a partner to share the cost of necessary research and development.
Mueller said he had not yet spoken with Marchionne but he told reporters that “it would be very helpful if Mr. Marchionne were to communicate his considerations to me too and not just to you.”

The remarks come in the wake of GM selling it’s Opel operations to the PSA Group of France.
