Ford Pumps $$ Into Michigan Plants

Ford Motor Company plans on investing $1.2 billion in three area facilities.

The money will be funneled to the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Ford Romeo Engine Plant and to help construct the company’s new advanced data center at the Flat Rock plant.

At the Michigan Assembly Plant, $850 million will be used to retool the plant for the Ford Ranger and Ford Bronco.

For the Romeo Engine Plant, about $150 million will be used to add tooling and expand the facility’s capacity to build engines. The investment will reportedly create 130 jobs at the plant.

Ford says $200 million will also be used to build the second of two advanced data centers.
Part of the work was announced previously.
The Michigan Economic Development Corp. says all three Ford projects would generate more than $2 billion in total capital investment, create 800 new jobs and retain 3,600 jobs.
