Fr. Solanus Casey On Road To Sainthood

He was a saintly man in life.
Now Fr. Solanus Casey of Detroit is on his way to sainthood in the Catholic Church. Beatification of Fr. Solanus was announced today by Pope Francis at the Vatican. His beatification was expected. His cause for beatification commenced over a decade after his death and he became titled as Venerable in mid-1995. One miracle is required to be approved for him to be beatified with one such healing later receiving approval from Pope Francis. He will be beatified in Detroit in 2017. It is a step toward canonization.

Bernard Francis Casey was a Capuchin priest , known during his lifetime as a a spiritual counselor but also for his great attention to the sick for whom he celebrated special Masses. His followers said he worked miracles during his life, and after prayers invoking Fr. Solanus after his death.
Fr. Solanus Casey worked at St. Bonaventure Monastery in Detroit, and died in 1957 at the age of 86.
