Update On Fatal Crash

State Police say the accident that left five people dead in Livingston County Tuesday night appears to have been caused by a driver who went through a stop sign on Argentine Road at M-59.

Police say two of the four people in that car were pronounced dead on the scene: 20 year old Justin Hernandez, and 24 year old Preston Wetzel of Fenton.

In the car that was struck on M-59, police say 35 year old Candice Dunn of Sterling Hts., Dunn’s mother, 69 year old Linda Hurley, and 73 year old Jerome Tortomasi of Macomb County, were killed.

Three people, including the two drivers and a passenger, are in critical condition:
22 year old Mathew Carrier of Fenton, 23 year old Kyle Lixie and 39 year old Albert Boswell of Oakland County.
Police say both drivers had bad driving records.
Police say Carrier ran a stop sign at Argentine Road and M-59 and slammed into the other vehicle. Police say Carrier’s license had been suspended for numerous violations, including drunk driving.
The other driver, Boswell, had a restricted license for prior drunk driving convictions.
Candice Dunn and the others in her car were returning from an event in which Dunn was given an award as Probation Officer of The Year by the Michigan Corrections Department.
