Off Duty Cop Critically Wounded

An off-duty Detroit Police officer is in critical condition following a shootout at a party store. The gunman was shot and killed. The shootout occurred in the parking lot of the Motor City Liquor on Gratiot and Chene.
Police say the officer was shot in the torso and a second time in an ankle.
Chief Craig says the off-duty officer was leaving the store when he was confronted by the armed robber. The officer drew his gun. They exchanged fire. The suspect killed, the officer wounded. Both were on the ground when a man drove up to the scene 5 to 7 minutes later. The man took the gun of the robber, and then took the officer’s gun. He drove off in a dark-colored car.
