$32 Million In Development Coming To Midtown Community

Detroit officials have announced a $32 million dollar investment in the city’s Sugar Hill Arts District.

Develop Detroit’s Sonya Mays and Rodger Brown from Preservation of Affordable Housing will be leading the development, while Phil Freelon heads the design. Freelon designed the new National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. 84 apartments, 7,000 square feet of commercial space, a 300 space parking garage and green alleyways will be built in Midtown. 25% of the new development will include affordable housing for those who make as low as 50% of the area’s median income.

Developers are expecting to break ground next September.
