Pontiac Cold Case Revived: Trial Resumes

Testimony is to resume today in Oakland County Circuit Court trial involving a murder that occurred 21 years ago.
45 year old Brandon Gohagen is charged in the rape and murder of Rosalia Brantley of Pontiac.

Her body had been found in Pontiac’s Hawthorne Park in the summer of 1994.

Prosecutors say the case lay dormant for years until advanced DNA technology tied Gohagen to the murder.

Brantley was a 22 year old mother of one when her body was found.

She had been beaten and stabbed and her body mutilated.

Gohagen’s defense attorney said that any evidence that Gohagen and the victim had sexual contact doesn’t mean that he killed her.

Even if Gohagen were to be found not guilty in this case, he is still going back to prison.

He is currently serving a lengthy prison term for the rape and murder of a 43 year old Pontiac woman in 1995.
