What You Need To Know For The Fireworks

Fired up for the fireworks.
Tonight is the 59th annual Ford Fireworks display on the Detroit River.

It all gets underway at 9:55pm

Those coming downtown are advised that several streets will be closed by this afternoon, so be prepared for alternate routes.

Remember, a curfew will be in effect in the downtown area.

Anyone 17 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

The curfew covers the area bound by I-75, the Detroit River, the Lodge Freeway and Chene.

For spectators who want to view tonight’s fireworks show from Belle Isle, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced that the park will open to vehicle traffic at 2 this afternoon.

However, once the island capacity of 3-thousand vehicles is reached, no more will be allowed on the island.

Motorists will need a recreation passport.

It can be purchased at the entrance for 11-dollars.

No alcohol will be allowed on the island and viewing of the fireworks will not be allowed from the MacArthur bridge.
