Detroit Fires: What Really Happened

The Fourth of July period has become a busy one for local fire departments, mostly dealing with fireworks.
Last year Detroit had an unusual rash of fires. But  there were far fewer this time around.

Last night was busy. Dozens of fires occurred in Detroit over the 4th. But Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Furnell says, fires are trending down. Furnell says Detroit had more than 90 structure fires over the 4th of July period in 2016, and 51 this year.

Several fires were triggered by an electrical transformer fire on the east side.
No injuries are reported in any of these fires.
