Unexpected Cargo In New Ford Shipment

Federal investigators say more than 270 pounds of of marijuana were found in rail cars that were used to ship new Ford and Lincoln vehicles to the Ford Rail Distribution Facility in Woodhaven. The vehicles were recently imported from Mexico.

The bags of pot were turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.

Ford employees made the discovery after new vehicles were offloaded at the Woodhaven facility. Ford’s Loss Prevention staff contacted the Woodhaven Police.

A search was conducted on 200 vehicles.
Ford is cooperating fully with the investigation.

A similar discovery was made recently in connection with new Ford Fusion cars shipped from Mexico to dealers in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The marijuana in those vehicles was found in the spaces meant for spare tires.
