Dr. Fatah Restitution Deadline Coming

Former patients of convicted cancer Doctor Farid Fatah who were turned down in their efforts to claim part of a restitution fund have a few days left in which to have their claims reconsidered.
The 52 year old Fatah is serving a 45 year prison term for health care fraud in a long-running scheme in which he ordered unnecessary chemotherapy and other treatments for patients who didn’t need them.

Nearly 12 million dollars in financial assets were seized from his Oakland Township home.

A fund was set up for his patients or their surviving family members to cover needed medial costs or funeral expenses.

Officials say preliminary approval was given to nearly 3 of every 4 people who filed a claim.

Those who had their claims rejected, have until Wednesday to resubmit them for reconsideration.

The U-S Justice Department is urging those who don’t understand why their claims were denied can call a toll free number.

That number is 877 202 3282.
