More Bribe Charges In Macomb

Yet another federal bribery charge has been leveled in Macomb County. WJR’s Dick Haefner reports that the latest charges involve the largest amount of money to change hands out of all the bribery incidents connected to trash hauling.

Contractor Christopher Sorrentino of Macomb Twp. is the 14th person to be charged in the bribery investigation. The charging document says Sorrentino got a check from a township official for work that was never done, and then paid the official a series of checks for less than 10-thousand dollars each to try to evade the attention of the IRS. The kickbacks totaled 66-thousand dollars, according to the federal information. The elected official is no longer with Macomb Twp. and has not been charged.
The government’s investigation targeted the owners of the former Rizzo Environmental Services, which has been sold to another company.
