Self Drive Regs To Be Unveiled

Self-driving vehicle standards are coming.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao is expected to unveil the revised guidelines next Tuesday at the mobility testing facility in Ann Arbor. The Trump administration is responding to automakers’ calls for elimination of legal barriers to putting autonomous vehicles on the road.
The U.S. House will vote on a sweeping proposal to speed deployment of self-driving cars without human controls and bar states from blocking autonomous vehicles. This would speed up development of self-driving vehicles. It would also allow automakers to eventually deploy 100-thousand vehicles annually that do not meet all auto safety standards.
