Opening Night At LCA

There’s plenty of excitement in downtown Detroit.

Tonight marks the official opening of the new Little Caesars Arena.

But it’s not a hockey or basketball game … it’s a concert by Kid Rock.

It’s the first of six concerts at the arena planned for the entertainer.

Detroit Police will have officers there. Protests are planned outside. The National Action Network, affiliated with media figure Al Sharpton, promises a peaceful demonstration. They accuse Kid Rock of being a racist.

It also marks a changing of the guard for entertainment and sports in the area.

The Joe Louis Arena is already closed down and the Palace of Auburn Hills will shut its doors later this month.

This will make the Little Caesars Arena the premier arena.
