Was Mom Killed Because She Was “Too Americanized”?

An Oakland County judge will hold a pre-exam conference today in the case of a Farmington Hills teenager charged with killing his mother by pushing her out of a second-floor window at their swank home in August.
Indications are that authorities believe 16 year old Muhammad Altantawi killed his mother because he thought she was too Americanized.
The body of 35 year old Nada Huranieh was found on the concrete patio of the family’s mansion. The woman was getting a divorce from her husband, Bassel Altantawi. Altantawi pleaded guilty to spousal abuse for an incident in 20-16 in which he was accused of throwing his wife down a flight of stairs. Altantawi was ordered out of the house. He lived in Canton Twp.
The Detroit News reports that court records indicate that the 16 year old son visited his father many times, and that the father expressed his concern that the son and two daughters were being Americanized by his estranged wife, in contrast to their Syrian and Islamic roots.

Muhammad had grown apart from his mother, and didn’t believe in American culture, according to the wife’s former attorney,.
Basser Altantawi is a physician who pleaded guilty to medicaid fraud. His license was lifted.
