Murals In The Market To Draw Thousands

Today marks the kickoff for Detroit’s third annual ‘Murals in the Market.’

It’s a public art festival that this year features more than 50 local and international artists that will be adding to Eastern Market’s reputation as a globally recognized destination for the viewing of large-scale murals.

Thanks to a new partnership with the William Davidson Foundation, murals will also be able to be viewed at several locations throughout the city.

Officials say the program has become so successful in just two short years, that it is already bringing tens of thousands of visitors to Eastern Market. But murals at Eastern Market were begun by former city planner Alex Pollock in the 1970’s.
