Macomb Sewer Job Goes With The Flow

It’s the light at the end of the sewer tunnel.
The big repair at the Fraser sinkhole site is taking a major step forward.

Sewage from many Macomb County communities is being re-routed from a temporary pipe to a new permanent interceptor drain pipe.
A giant above-ground pipe has carried the foul contents past the spot where a break and collapse occurred the day after Christmas under 15 Mile Road. Houses were damaged or destroyed, and the road buckled like an earthquake.

County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller says inspections revealed more problems. But Miller says extra money from savings on the project will pay for it.

Work has gone ahead of schedule, but none too soon for those living nearby, after months of disruption, noise, and the aroma of sewage wafting over the neighborhood.
