State House Acts On Gun Penalties

The Michigan House voted to reduce the penalty for gun owners who let their concealed gun licenses expire to a fine rather than charging them with a felony.

A bill would assess a $330 fine on a gun owner who fails to renew a permit and is found carrying a concealed gun. The current penalty for carrying a gun without a license is a five-year felony.

The proposal goes to the State Senate.
