Drones Drop Contraband Into Michigan Prison

Drones are being used to smuggle contraband into prisons.

State prison officials had already reported that an attempted drone drop of cell phones, cigarettes, and marijuana was unsuccessful, at the Handlon Correctional Facility, in late May. What was not revealed were two other packages of contraband that got in the same day. It went undetected for two months, according to State Police documents obtained by the Detroit News in a Freedom of Information request. At least one prisoner may have been using a cell phone the entire two months. In addition to the cell phones, razors and marijuana was also recovered.
3 felons from Detroit are now charged with smuggling into the prison.
