September was the best month of the year for the auto industry.
Automakers showed their biggest sales gains, some of them the only increases of the year.
GM’s 12 percent jump features a strong month for the Chevy brand. Buick crossover deliveries were up 43 percent.
Ford truck sales rose 20 percent, leading Ford’s 8 percent overall gain.
Toyota rose 15 percent. SUV’s up 43 percent.
Fiat Chrysler was down 10 percent, due to a steep cut in fleet sales to rental companies. Retail sales were up slightly.
Again, trucks and crossovers led the way. GM puts the annualized selling rate at more than 18 million vehicles… smashing thru sales numbers which saw the industry down in each of the first 8 months of 20-17.
