Gun Goes Off During Struggle At Oxford High

Classes are going on as normal today at Oxford High School, after an 18-year-old student tried to disarm an Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy.

The deputy was attempting to take the student into custody at the time. The gun went off as the teen tried to grab it away. The bullet went through the bottom of the holster, striking the floor and then lodging in a wall.

Police say the teen was being taken into custody after assaulting his girlfriend at the school. The teen is an online student at the school. The student has a court order to stay away from the girl due to stalking issues.

Police say he was detained by a school administrator, and punched a teacher as he was being taken to the office.
