Another State Official In Court In Flint

Michigan’s Chief Medical Executive, Dr. Eden Wells, is facing a preliminary examination today on charges she obstructed justice in the Flint water crisis.
She has been charged with interfering with researchers looking into the source of a deadly legionnaires disease outbreak in the Flint area.

67 people, including Lt Governor Brian Calley have been called to testify.

Her exam is the second to move forward in the case.

A preliminary exam for Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon is scheduled to resume on November 1st.

He is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of an elderly Flint-area man from legionnaires disease.

In testimony Friday, questions were raised as to when Governor Snyder was first told about the outbreak.

The governor had said he first learned of it in January of last year.

A top aide of the governor, Harvey Hollins, said he told him about it in late 2015.
