Pets Prevail At Parks

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has some good news for pet owners.

Under a pilot program that begins today, five state parks will permit campers to bring up to two dogs or cats into their cabins.

Pets currently are allowed in state parks, recreation areas, forests and campgrounds, but not in buildings.

The state parks taking part in the pilot program are Harrisville, Lime Island, Leelanau, Sleepy Hollow and Cheboygan.
