Boy In Wheelchair Can’t Escape Fire

A weekend house fire in Detroit has claimed the life of a 14 year old handicapped boy.

The fire started at about 3:30 yesterday morning in a home on Riad on the city’s east side.

When fire crews arrived, a 16 year old girl who had escaped the flames, told them that her wheelchair-bound brother was trapped inside.

They found his body in a back bedroom.

They were able to get the boy’s 52 year old mother out of the home, but she is said to be in critical condition suffering from smoke inhalation.
