A Bloomfield Township man is scheduled to be sentenced today for his role in a scheme involving trash-hauler Chuck Rizzo Junior.
47 year old Derrick Hicks pled guilty to one charge that he worked with Rizzo to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars from Rizzo’s company.
Investigators say the scheme netted more than a half million dollars and that some of the money was used to enrich the defendants while the rest was used to pay cash bribes to public officials in Macomb County in securing their support form lucrative trash hauling contracts with the Rizzo company.
Hicks was the 6th person to plead guilty in the scandal that has, so far, led to charges against 17 people.
As part of a plea deal, Hicks is facing between 21 and 27 months in prison.
