Son Accused Of Killing Mom Goes To Court

A preliminary exam is scheduled to resume today for a Farmington Hills teenager accused of killing his mother this past August.

16 year old Muhammed Al-Tantawi is charged as an adult with 1st degree murder in the death of his 35 year old mother, Nada Huranieh.

Her body had been found on the pavement below an open second story window in her Farmington Hills mansion.

Police originally though the death was an accident.

A further investigation led to the charges against her son.

At the start of his preliminary exam earlier this month, a medical examiner testified that the woman was already dead when she fell from the window.

He said she had died from asphyxia and smothering.

At the time of her death, she was involved in divorce proceedings and there were reports that her husband was concerned that she was becoming too Americanized.

The couple was originally from Syria.
