It’s been a busy week for Christmas shoppers, but Saturday is expected to be the highlight of the week. It will be the busiest shopping day of the year.
This will be good news for area brick and mortar stores.
Most on-line shopping has been completed and that this will mean more traffic to the local malls and other smaller retail outlets.
Consumers should be in a buying mood.
Consumer confidence in 2017 was the highest in many years, according to the University of Michigan consumer surveys. U of M surveys says the average in 2017 was the highest since 2000, and only the long expansions of the 1960s and 1990s were significantly higher. 50 percent of all consumers reported that their personal finances had improved during the year.
