A Milford Township woman is facing the possibility of being sentenced to life in prison today.
58 year old Yvonne Cortis pled guilty to a charge of second degree murder.
She had called 9-1-1 back in November of 2015 to say that she had beaten her husband and their 11 year old Labrador Retriever with a metal rod.
When police arrived they found her 66 year old husband unconscious and covered in blood.
She told police they had been ill and were no longer suffering.
The husband did have an unspecified illness and the dog had arthritis and was overweight.
Prosecutors said police had been called to their home on past reports of domestic violence and that officers described the scene as one of intense domestic violence.
