Ex-UAW Official To Be Sentenced

A former associate director of the UAW is scheduled to be sentenced today for her role in misusing funds earmarked for training and retraining of blue-collar workers.

65 year old Virdell King pled guilty to the charges against her and is facing up to 16 months in prison.

She is the second to do so in an ongoing federal investigation into money taken from the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center.

Former Fiat Chrysler financial analyst Jerome Durden of Rochester Hills previously pled guilty to helping divert more than 4.5 million dollars to union officials.

His plea deal calls for a sentence of up to 37 months.

Two others charged in the case have pled not guilty and are scheduled to go on trial in March.

They are Fiat Chrysler former top negotiator Alphons Iacobelli and Monica Morgan-Holiefield, the widow of the deceased former UAW vice president General Holiefield.
