Genital Mutilation Case Altered

The most serious charge has been dropped against two doctors in the federal case involving genital mutilation of little girls.
Judge Bernard Friedman dismissed the charge of ‘transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.’
The charge carries a possible life prison sentence.
Friedman said that while genital mutilation is “a prohibited criminal act,” it’s not criminal sexual activity.
The two doctors still face other charges involving the mutilations of little girls in a practice by what authorities say is a small Muslim sect.
