Firefighters put out a fire at Holiday Market in Royal Oak.
Smoke could be seen pouring out of a loading dock in the back of the store. It began in a trash compactor. Material from the store’s smokehouse had been dumped into the compactor while some pariticles were still smoldering, according to the store management.
The grocery store on Main Street is a landmark store in Royal Oak, in business for decades, with a clientele from all over the Detroit area.
